What Is Included In a Boiler Service?
What Happens In a Boiler Service?
When getting a boiler service, there are many things included during the routine check-up. The first thing that will happen is the boiler will be inspected for any signs of visible damage.
After that, the flue pipes and ventilation will be checked to ensure they are all intact and functioning properly. The burner and all other controls will also be examined at this time.
An Engineer Will Check the following
- Fix Gas Flow and Pressure
- Ensure Seals are Intact
- Water and Gas Pipework isn't Damaged
- Electric Connectors are Clean
- Flue and Combustion
- Fans are Working Correctly
After Its Done?
You should get your boiler serviced at least once a year to ensure maximum efficiency. If you have any questions about what is included in your service, be sure to ask your engineer before they begin. It’s important to check your engineer is gas safe registered so you know they are trained to work with your appliance.
After your engineer has completed the service, they should let you know if everything is working as it should be and if there are any issues that need to be addressed. If you have a gas boiler, they will also issue you with a Gas Safety Certificate. This certificate is valid for 12 months and needs to be renewed annually.
As a general rule of thumb, a boiler service will last around 45-60 minutes depending on certain factors. You should then receive the full-service report. You should only sign this report if you are satisfied with all elements that have received a service.
The engineer will also tell you if any boiler repairs need to be done on the boiler or if you may need a new boiler installed in your home for reasons such as efficiency and energy bills.
